Domicopter

In 2013, some dipshits at Domino's pizza decided to use a drone to deliver pizza. They came up with the "Domicopter." It was a stupid stunt that was only used in the UK.

Quote.png Domino's U.S. spokesman Tim McIntyre made clear "this has nothing to do with us in the U.S. and we have no plans to pursue this idea."[1] Quote1.png

Campaign

Domino’s Pizza posted the DomiCopter video in 2013 to its UK and Ireland YouTube account entitled “Introducing the Domino’s DomiCopter!” which shows a drone carrying pizza over trees and yards, landing safely at the doorstep of a man who stands waiting for it.

While the DomiCopter is perhaps the silliest example of possible drone use, it's a burgeoning field full of legal and ethical questions.[2]

Of course, the Fatties want in on this tech...

Quote.png At this point, the project is likely intended as more of a PR stunt than something you'll find buzzing at your doorstep anytime soon. "The video has had 17,000+ views in just under 12 hours and our emails have been going mad with inquiries as to when people may be getting their food delivered by the DomiCopter.[3] Quote1.png

Additionally:

Quote.png A drone-based delivery system, of course, would open up a host of questions. Would the drone ring your doorbell? How would drunk college kids ordering pizza at 4am resist the urge to steal the drone? It appears we don't have to seriously consider any of these queries right now, but stranger things have happened. Quote1.png
