52 Factorial

52 Factorial or 52! is explained as the number of possible ways to order a pack of 52 cards. To find this number, you must multiply 52 by 51 by 50… all the way down to 1. The number you get at the end is 8×10^67 (8 with 67 '0's after it).

80 Septendecillion

This looks like:

800000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

(I think there are 67 zeros there, I quit counting after a while.)

Usual Course Of Events

When this subject comes up, usually some nerd points out that a number that size is

"Somewhere around 3 times the total number of atoms in the Milky Way galaxy!

And this may be true, numbers are stupid and since there is an infinite number of them, they can get pretty big.

Finally, that same nerd, or somebody else in your pack of easily impressed friends says something like:

"That means a deck of cards that has been shuffled has never been seen before and will never be seen again!"

But this isn't true.

Evidence

I have a deck of cards right here.

I took the Joker and Rules cards out because we aren't doing an article about 56 Factorial. Then, with great care, I shuffled them several times.

Deck2 52a.jpg

After shuffling, the deck is in the exact same order. I double checked the order and yes, they are exactly the same. The Science is settled and you will just have to accept my proof. Anybody denying my proof is racist, anti-vax, and probably a climate denier. There is nothing you can do to disprove my facts.

Deck3 52a.jpg

Careful examination will show that the shuffled deck is exactly the same.
