wut?
youtube rabbit hole?
Cursed videos?
Nah, it's just a bunch of enterprising youths from (mostly) South America, trying to gross you out. At least that is what this phenomena has become. However, it was not always this way.
Like most of the internet, this phenomena started off with much more dark, sinister intentions. When searching a period (.) on you tube, the user would be shown shocking thumbnail images in the search results that usually depicted decapitations, eviscerations, hardcore porn, and other subjects that you would never find on youtube. These links would lead to sinister quick little videos.
These days, as the internet has become more "safe," widespread, and normalized, this flaw found in youtube's search function has become more of a toned down, vanilla sort of joke. By the time you read this article, the "period search" on youtube will probably be recognized by you as just another funny meme.
variations of the text
These are the ones I have seen so far. A variation of the text will give a lot of the same results, just in a different order.

youtube's issues
Seems that somebody discovered that when you search a period (.) in youtube, it will freak out the search algorithm. Of course, when somebody discovers such exploits, they tend to abuse them. This phenomena is not new, and youtube tracks a lot of the really bad videos down and removes them.
Really bad?
Well, yes. Originally, when searching a period, you would find gore, porn, and other unsavory footage. A current "period search" on youtube is more likely to find you a Spanish dubbed video of Spongebob being eaten by Patrick Star.
Further reading on this subject, I found that quite a few people have the idea that this flaw was (or still is) used to circulate child pornography on youtube. The videos are so crazy and deranged, that MUST be the explanation. Of course, any time NPCs are confronted with something that isn't quite right and does not fit the narrative, it must be something illegal.
current status
I just tried to search a period on youtube and it did not work, however your results may vary. My results were "creepypasta" channels such as Nexpo, Nick Crowley, and similar channels. These channels dedicate their content to UFOs, demons, ghost stories, and other gobbledygook you would find on 4chan's /x/ board. To get the real results, you have to search for .... ø·ø ̈ùšù„ø© ... or one of its variations. Looks like youtube has fixed it's problem.
