That Tier 3 severity violation is the big one.  That's where they can make up whatever rule they want and stick it under the umbrella of hate.  Words are so arbitrary these days, expect fines for thoughcrimes next.

In a stunning knee-jerk, T-Mobile ® has taken a move to destroy their own business. Below, you will find a copy of their "Code of Conduct," but if you want it straight from the horses' mouth, you can click here to download it for yourself.

Essentially, if they don't like you or what you say, they will make you pay a fine.

Non-Compliance Fines

Beginning January 1, 2024, T-Mobile is instituting three new fees for non-compliant traffic that result in a Severity-0 violation. A Sev-0, (Severity-0) represents the most harmful violation to consumers and is the highest level of escalation with which a carrier will engage with Bandwidth. This applies across all products (SMS or MMS, Short Code, Toll-Free, and 10DLC) that traverse T-Mobile's network.[1][2]

The non-compliance fine(s) (USD) will be assessed for every Sev-0 violation issued as follows:

  • Tier 1: $2,000, for phishing, smishing,[3] and social engineering. Social Engineering refers to the practice of targeting individuals in a way that manipulates individuals to reveal private information like credit card numbers, or social security numbers.
  • Tier 2: $1,000, for illegal content (included content must be legal in all 50 states and federally) Illegal content includes, but is not limited to, Cannabis, Marijuana, CBD, Illegal Prescriptions, and Solicitation.
  • Tier 3: $500, for all other violations including, but not limited to, SHAFT (see below). Please review the T-Mobile Code of Conduct Section 5.2 for a list of all disallowed content.

That Tier 3 severity violation is the big one. That's where they can make up whatever rule they want and stick it under the umbrella of hate. Additionally, the explanation says "including, but not limited to, SHAFT." Heck, they can just make stuff up at any point.

Words are so arbitrary these days, expect fines for thoughcrimes next.

What is S.H.A.F.T.?

Quote.png Some rando can suddenly decide that what you have said is inappropriate content and you are fined $500. This set of unsuitable things will most definately change daily. Quote1.png

S.H.A.F.T. is an acronym that stands for Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco. It outlines the categories of text messages specifically regulated due to moral and legal issues and is monitored and enforced by the Cellular Telephone Industries Association (CTIA) and the mobile carriers.

The original idea behind S.H.A.F.T. was to protect children from receiving SMS messages from alcohol companies that might spam them with discount deals. There were a few other reasons that involved tobacco and minors and other stuff like that. However, now that we are in clown world and just about everybody is a mental child who thinks they are a dolphin, those pesky categories of "hate" and "sex" can be used to fine anybody for any thing.

What You Can Do

Normally, I would tell you to just drop T-Mobile ® and find some other cell phone provider. They have garbage service anyways. Sadly, in this day and age, expect all other cell phone providers to follow suit and toss up their own version of this horseshit.

  3. What is smishing? Oh, you learn something new every day! Smishing is the fraudulent practice of sending text messages purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords or credit card numbers.
