==Bias?==
Kirk has often stated that because he represents ESPN and because he is reporting on college football, he cannot show favoritism toward Ohio State football.  Everyone agrees.  Reporters should report the news in an unbiased fashion, but Kirk goes over the top when shitting on the Buckeyes.  He even recently claimed that 20% of Ohio State fans are lunatics.<ref>https://www.si.com/college-football/kirk-herbstreit-defends-ryan-day-lunatic-fringe-ohio-state-fans</ref>

#The SEC network MUST be profitable
#Kirk must sell the brand
Now you know why the shitstain is so biased.  He is paid to tell you how great ESPN and the SEC are.  Everybody else is a competitor and should be scorned.

"Herbie"

Kirk Herbstreit is a sports commentator, former Ohio State quarterback, and a professional asshole.

Quote.png Back in 2011, Herbstreit moved his family out of Columbus, going to Nashville, Tennessee. The college football analyst said he loves Ohio State, but the fringe portion of the Buckeyes fan base was making his life too hard in Columbus.[1] Quote1.png

No NFL?

Kirk never entered the National Football League because he wasn't a good enough prospect to get drafted. He didn't get sad because he is now a thriving sports analyst and commentator. Even though his college football career wasn't impressive, he was always appreciated by the fans of his college team.[2]

Bias?

Kirk has often stated that because he represents ESPN and because he is reporting on college football, he cannot show favoritism toward Ohio State football. Everyone agrees. Reporters should report the news in an unbiased fashion, but Kirk goes over the top when shitting on the Buckeyes. He even recently claimed that 20% of Ohio State fans are lunatics.[3]

But lettuce take a closer look. It is pretty simple actually:

  1. Kirk works for ESPN[4]
  2. ESPN is owned by Disney[5]
  3. The SEC[6] network is partnered with Disney[7]
  4. The SEC network MUST be profitable
  5. Kirk must sell the brand

Now you know why the shitstain is so biased. He is paid to tell you how great ESPN and the SEC are. Everybody else is a competitor and should be scorned.

The Unofficial Story

Exposing Herbstreit.[8][9]

Kirk moved out of central Ohio back in 2004, stating that he did not like the toxic atmosphere he was forced to endure. Ohio State football fans thought that his commenting at ESPN was biased against the Buckeyes. Kirk even goes so far as to claim that "somebody tried to set my house on fire with my family in it..." but to this day, nobody knows who really set the fire.

At the same time, Kirk, who is a family man was also having trouble with the woman he was cheating on his wife with.[10] Seems that she didn't take "no" for an answer and threatened to expose his infidelities to a wider audience. So Kirk moved his family and wife the hell out of Columbus and escaped to Nashville, TN.

Cheating

In 2007, the news of Kirk having an affair with the wife of a Columbus police officer came out in the media. Jerry Dunlaw was also a fan of Kirk and once asked Kirk to sign his wife's chest after a football game. Jerry ended up divorcing his wife Tracy on adultery because of the five-year affair she was having with Kirk. Kirk admitted he was involved with Tracy and expressed regret for his actions which affected their lives. Several reports of Kirk having another affair with Erin Andrews,[11] but he and his wife have never publicly addressed the rumor.

Kirk and his wife Alison were trying to stay strong when the news filled up with reports of his affair with Tracy. There were rumors of the couple getting separated, but a divorce never happened. Kirk's job keeps him on the road a lot, but he always tries to find time to spend with his children and wife.

The Dog

I am not going to shit on a guy for grieving over a dog. When your best friend dies, it's terrible. However, since this is an article on Kirk, it should be mentioned here what happened with "Ben."

Quote.png During the broadcast, ESPN played a clip all about Ben ... with Kirk talking about how he was far more than just a dog or travel companion -- and, clearly Ben's still feeling very raw emotionally 'cause he could barely talk about Ben during the show.[12][13] Quote1.png

Many detractors of Kirk use this sort of thing against him.
